Yi Peng Thai Dining is a Thai restaurant serving traditional family dishes inspired by Northern Thailand cuisine recipes, with an emphasis on flavors. The dynamic duo Chefs Jett and Jira Hurapan are hard at work to make this a worthwhile experience. Located in CityCentre, Houston, Yi Peng is named after the famous lantern festival in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.
Our goal is for you to have a memorable Thai dining experience, enjoying the celebration of the full moon through our choice of dishes, themed after the lantern festival. We have a passion for traditional Northern Thai cuisine and use only the freshest ingredients, our Thai culture, and the warm hospitality of the Yi Peng team to craft a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
Executive Chef, Junnajet Hurapan "Chef Jett"
Chef Jett - a native of Bangkok, Thailand, moved to New York City with his family at the age of six. Chef Jett started working in the kitchen of his father’s restaurant at just 14 years old and spent his formative years working in restaurants across the city.
His distinct cooking has been passed down from generation after generation through both his grandmother and father for the traditional Thai cuisine, yet he also uses his diverse culinary background that includes Thai, Chinese, Northern Italian, New American, Mediterranean, etc. Chef Jett has won the "Best of the Best" Chef Award from Excellent Culinary, now a part of the American Culinary Institute.
Chef de Cuisine, Jira Hurapan "Chef Jira"
Chef Jira - a native of Bangkok, moved to New York to study and worked with Chef Jett for over 10 years, her expertise has been shaped by her culinary pilgrimages to Thailand to study under legendary Thai cuisine expert Professor Srisamorn Kongpun. In 2004, Chef Jira attended the certification program, Master Class in Baking at the New School University. She completed the Pastry and Braking Arts diploma from the Institute of Culinary Education and completed her internship at NY’s famous Sarabeth’s Bakery in Chelsea Market.
Chef Jira prepares everything in-house from scratch, only with the freshest and unique ingredients, and always strives to keep trying new and exotic combinations of ingredients and fruits.
